Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SecurityJobsUK

For Workers

How do I create a profile?

Sign up free at /workers/signup with your email or use magic link (passwordless) login. Add your SIA licence number during onboarding and we'll auto-verify it against the SIA public register — usually within minutes.

How does SIA verification work?

We check your licence number against the official SIA public register automatically. If your name matches and the licence is active, you get a Verified badge instantly. We re-check weekly and warn you 30 days before your licence expires.

How do I apply for jobs and gigs?

Browse the Jobs or Gigs pages, find a role you're interested in, and click Apply. Fill in your details and the employer receives your application immediately via email. If you have a profile, your application history is tracked in your dashboard.

How do GPS check-ins work?

If your employer uses GPS shift check-in, you can clock in and out of shifts from your worker dashboard. When you check in, your GPS location is recorded so the employer can verify you're on-site. At check-out, you'll be prompted to report any incidents that occurred during your shift.

How do I report an incident?

When you check out of a shift, you'll see an 'Any incidents?' prompt. You can log details of any incidents that happened during your shift — these are sent directly to your employer's Incident Reports dashboard. You can also view your past incident reports in your worker dashboard.

How do I review an employer?

After working a job or gig, you can rate and review the employer from your worker dashboard. Your review helps other workers make informed decisions about where to work. Employers can see their reviews in their dashboard.

What is Get Accredited?

Our Get Accredited page (/get-accredited) is a free guide to SIA licences — covering licence types, costs, steps to apply, and a directory of approved training providers near you. Whether you're new to the industry or renewing, it's the best place to start.

What are rosters?

Rosters let you join an agency's team to coordinate shifts. Once you're on an agency's roster, they can assign you shifts and you'll see them in your dashboard. Join a roster from the Rosters page.

How do reviews work?

Employers can rate and review you after a job or gig. Your average rating only shows publicly after 3 or more reviews — so one bad day won't define you. You can also rate and review employers after working with them.

What are the worker premium tiers?

Priority (£4.99/mo) gives you priority placement in employer searches, a badge, and job alerts. Premium (£9.99/mo) adds profile analytics. Free profiles get full access to apply for all jobs and gigs.

I can't log in — what do I do?

You can log in with your email and password, or use the magic link option for passwordless login. If you've forgotten your password, use the 'Forgot password' link on the login page. Still stuck? Email us at hello@securityjobsuk.co.uk.

For Employers

How do I post a job?

Go to Post a Job, choose Standard (£49) or Featured (£99), pay via Stripe, and fill in the job details. Your listing goes live within minutes and stays active for 30 days. You can also post gigs for short-term event work.

What's the difference between Standard and Featured?

Standard listings appear in normal search results. Featured listings get a highlighted badge, priority positioning at the top of results, and more visibility to candidates.

How do I review workers?

Create a free employer account at /employers/signup. Your posted jobs will be linked to your dashboard. After hiring a worker, you can rate them 1-5 stars with an optional written review from the application management screen.

How do I see incident reports?

Incident reports submitted by workers during shift check-out appear in the Incident Reports section of your employer dashboard. You can filter by date to find specific reports. Each report includes the worker's name, shift details, and their description of the incident.

What are rosters?

Rosters let you organise your workforce into teams for shift coordination. Agency plan subscribers get unlimited rosters; non-agency employers get one roster included. Manage your rosters from the 'Our Rosters' section of your employer dashboard.

How does GPS shift check-in work for employers?

Agencies can opt in to GPS shift check-in from their dashboard. When enabled, workers check in and out of shifts with GPS verification, so you can confirm they're on-site. Check-out includes an incident reporting prompt, and all data is visible in your employer dashboard.

How do I browse workers?

Use the Browse Workers page to search verified SIA-licensed professionals by licence type, location, and availability. Free preview shows anonymised profiles. For full contact details, CVs, and SIA licence numbers, subscribe to CV Database access (£59/mo) or any agency plan (which includes CV database at no extra cost).

What are Agency plans?

For staffing agencies posting multiple roles: Starter (£99/mo, 5 jobs), Professional (£199/mo, 20 jobs), Unlimited (£349/mo, unlimited). All include a dedicated agency dashboard, branded listings, unlimited rosters, GPS shift check-in, and full CV database access.
